Can I ask someone else to collect the card on my behalf?
The answer is no. The Government do not support the collection of the residence card on behalf of another person, even if it is a family member. The reason for this is the fear of fraudulent claims and the need to verify the presence of the person in Spain.
Is it possible to sign a power of attorney before notary?
The police department is very strict in this regard. It is not possible to collect others’ residence card. Even if you sign a power of attorney before notary.
Can parents pick up the card of their children?
Yes. Only if the child is under 6 years old, the parents can pick up the card on behalf of the child. When you go, you need to present a document proving your relationship to the child (for example, a notary certificate of birth or a notary certificate of kinship).
If the child is 6 years old or older, the child must also be picked up in person, accompanied by one the parents.
