What is TASA 790?
To apply for residence in Spain or to apply for a residence card (fingerprinting) you need to pay a certain administrative fee to the Spanish government. TASA 790 (also known as MODELO 790) is a form to pay this administrative fee. The user has to fill out the corresponding TASA 790 form online, download and print it to his computer, and finally go to the bank to pay the fee.
If the 790 form is not submitted at the time of residence, your application will not be accepted. Likewise, if you fill in the wrong form or pay the wrong amount, your application will not be accepted.
Note: Failure to submit Form 790 will not result in an outright denial of residency. The immigration office will give you an opportunity yo make up the missing document.
There are mainly two different versions of TASA 790: 052 (Código 052) and 012 (Código 012). The two versions correspond to different procedures.
Procedures applicable to TASA 790 052
The 790-052 is used to apply for various types of residence, including family residence, permanent residence, work residence, self-employed residence, non-profit residence, permanent residence, EU residence, etc. In other words, the 790-052 is required when you apply for residence or renewal of residence.

TASA 790-012 Applicable procedures
TASA 790 012 is mainly used to process the residence card (fingerprinting). In other words, the fee that you need to pay at the time of fingerprinting after your residence application is successful.
To summarize, you need to pay the administrative fee twice during the whole process of applying for residence.

1.If you fill in the wrong form, your application will not be processed.
2.As above, if you fill in the wrong items or pay the wrong amount, your application will not be processed. If you fill in the wrong amount and underpay the fee, you will need to fill in another one to make it up.
3. Most of the banks can pay the fees, such as Santander, BBVA, CaixaBank, Sabadell, etc. However, you should be aware that some banks only accept payments at certain times.
