Residence permit to find a job
The purpose of the Job Search Residence Permit is to allow students who have graduated to stay legally in Spain while they are looking for work. It is valid for 2 year (it used to be 1 year) and cannot be extended after the expiry date.
If the student has already found a job, he/she can apply for a student permit modification into a work permit.
Can I apply for a work permit if I have been in Spain for less than 3 years?
Yes. You can change from job search visa to work permit as long as you get a job.
If the student finds a job, he or she can change to a work permit at any time. There is no legal requirement to have been in Spain for 3 years.
Note: 3 years residence in Spain are required to apply for work permit by “arraigo”.
