Job seeking visa

The Job Seeking visa, or employment seeking residence permit is an one-year authorization for graduated foreign students in Spain to find a job suitable to their field and level of studies or to start a business.

It is a non-lucrative residence permit which means that it does not allow to work. Once the student have found a job, the company can start the visa change process from job seeking sisa to job visa.

Duration of the permit

The duration of the permit is 12 months, non-renewable.

Aplication period

It can be applied between 60 days before and 90 days after the expiration date of the student visa.

Requirements

  • Be holder of a student sisa.
  • Own a Spanish-based high-level official diploma (undergraduate, official master or PhD)
  • Medical insurance that would cover the duration of the residency.
  • Have enough economic resources. At least 100% of the IPREM index during one year (7,000 euros aprox.)

Documents you need

  • Full copy of your passport
  • Official application form EX01
  • Payment of the tax 790 052 (Option 2.1). Download the tax form here.
  • Official diploma or completion certificate.
  • Medical insurance
  • Proof the economic means (e.g. bank certificate).

Application process

The application must be filed online or via electronic means. For this purpuse, the Immigration Authority has a website called “MERCURIO” where you can submmit all the documents:

The process shoud be done in the city you live and the immigration office may verify your padron certificate.

According to current legislation, there is a maximum of 20 working days for the immigration office to issue the resolution. If there is no response within 20 working days, the application will be deemed as granted automatically.

Once the permit is granted, you will need to go to the Police Statiton to record your fingerprints and apply your residence card (TIE).
