Permanet residence permit recovery

It is possible to apply for reinstatement of your permanet residence if you have been absent from Spain for longer than the legal limit (more than 1 one year continuous absence). 

Temporary residence cannot be reinstated if it has been revoked. Temporary residence (“residencia temporal”) includes the most common types of residence, such as family residence, work residence, entrepreneur residence, etc. 

Where to apply for reinstatement of my permanent residence?

According to Article 159 of the Spanish Law on Foreigners, the application for the reinstatement of permanent residence must be submitted in person at the Immigration Office or, if you are not in Spain, through the Spanish Consulate abroad. 

The procedure for reinstatement of permanent residence is called “Recuperación de la titularidad de la autorización de residencia de larga duración “, which translates as “reinstatement of permanent residence permit”.

Documents requiered

1.Official application form (EX-11). 

2.Copy of the entire passport. Passport valid for not less than 4 months. 

3.Criminal clearence certificate, translated and apostilled.

4.Health certificate, to prove that the applicant does not have any high-risk infectious diseases. 

Application process

1.The application must be submitted in person at the immigration office. If you are in abroad, you can apply at the Spanish Consulate.

2.To apply, you need to submit the paid version of TASA 790- 052. When filling out the 790-052 form, check the box 2.6 “autorización de residencia de larga duración” in the section of matters to be processed.

3.The approval time is three months.
