TIE card

TIE means foreigner identity card. It is a biometric card that contains the identity details of a foreigner who has legal residency in Spain.

Every foreigner with a visa valid for a period longer than six months must apply for a Foreigner Identity Card once in Spain.

On a TIE card you can see the NIE number that identifies the foreigner. Every TIE card has a expiry date.

How to apply for TIE?

TIE can be applied before National Police station of the place you live. Depending on the case, you may need a visa or an approval letter form the inmigration office before obtaining the TIE.

Do Children need a TIE Card?

There is no minimum age for applications for TIE cards. Everyone including any children who wish  to reside in Spain must have a TIE Card.
