Are there any income requirements for the extension of EU residence?

According to Article 154 of the Spanish Aliens Act, there is no economical requirement for the renewal of EU residence. There is no need to provide additional documentation such as proof of financial means, health insurance, etc. when applying for a replacement. Instead of going through a time-consuming approval process, you can go directly to the police station to apply for a residence card (fingerprinting).

Be aware of the time limit for leaving the EU for residency purposes

Current Spanish law stipulates that the holder of an EU residence may not leave the EU territory for more than 12 months at a time. During this period, the person can stay in other EU countries and does not necessarily have to live in Spain. If the absence from the EU exceeds the legal limit, then the residence is nullified.
